These ruthless attackers strike without warning, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in their wake. The once peaceful area is now a place of despair and hardship. It seems like no one is safe, as innocent villagers are targeted with weapons and their sources of livelihoods which is farming are destroyed.
The Abavo community has suffered great human and economic harm due to the repeated attacks by the Fulani herdsmen. The devastation of business, farms and crops has caused severe hardship for many, as they struggle to support themselves.
These herdsmen bring their cattle into people’s farmland, destroying their crops in the process, and as a result, what was once a thriving community is now left in ruins, with a bleak outlook for the future.
Despite the ongoing terror and destruction, the government’s response has been lackluster at best. The residents of Abavo community and environ feel abandoned and neglected by those in power, adding to their feelings of despair.
There seems to be no limit to the wickedness of these terrorists. Not long ago, a pregnant woman was snatched from her farm in Abavo. The cruel Fulani Herdsmen took advantage of her, raping her until she forcefully put to birth.
These invaders have no regard for human life, brazenly attacking and abducting innocent people. The Fulani terrorists spread terror among their victims and anyone who opposes them, mercilessly taking lives and going after the entire families if they dare to speak up against their despicable actions.
The ongoing conflict between the Fulani herdsmen and the Abavo community and it’s environ, has created a sense of war. Their attack on the farm and destruction of food crops has made cost of food to rise
The nefarious activities of these herdsmen in Abavo have been on for years and the attacked this 2022 has been on increase
Their attacks have been persistent, and gets worse day by day, instead of abating.
Due to these constant threats, many families have had to flee their homes and leave their farm lands behind as their lives are more important to them.
These herdsmen operate mostly in Obianyima, Ekwuoma, Azuowa,Oyoko, Central, and other areas in Abavo community in Ika South, and those plying Owa Oyibu-Abavo Road, roads along Ekuku Agbor, Ute, Owa and villages near the railway lines. Their mode of operation is that they strike in a place and disappear into the bush
Driven by their extremist religious beliefs, not only operate in the bushes but also invade villages to carry out their malicious acts. These Fulani herdsmen invaded many farm land. Some of the family land that they invaded in Abavo were the Osemeha Johnson,’s, Egwanimku Sunday, Uwaya Julius, Benjamin kiwogun, Ehiwario Friday families, and some others. These families, organized themselves with Local vigilante to resist the Fulani herdsmen.
However, this development only enraged the herdsmen further, leading to an increase attack , while they specifically target families with farm lands and those resisting their intrusion, as they claimed that the whole of Nigeria belongs to them.
A resident of one of the villages in Abavo, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that they now live in constant fear, saying that the herdsmen could strike at any moment, night or day.
According to the source, there are brave families who refuse to stand by and watch as these foreigners take over their land. However, the invaders, who have spies scattered throughout the community, were able to identify these families and made them targets of their assault.
Sadly, the source disclosed that some families have already fallen prey to these herdsmen.
The source pointed out that several appeals have been made to both the Delta State, and federal government to intervene and provide assistance, yet nothing has been done.
Our source noted that the community’s vigilante group armed with only local guns, are no match for the highly sophisticated weapons wielded by these evil herdsmen, maintaining that, even if the native people were to stand up against the invaders, their weapons would be no match for the arsenal of the invaders. It is a terrifying situation for the communities, with no end in sight, the source stated.
The source noted that, families of some of those who stood against the evils of the Fulani herdsmen and vowed that they would not allow strangers destroy their land, people like Osemeha Emeka , Egwanimkwu Sunday, Uwaya Julius , Kiwogun Benjamin and Ehiwario Friday families, were all targeted as these terrorists invade their farms and homes.
Our source revealed that they have launched attacks in Abavo this month October, 2022, and in one of the attacks, they raided the farmlands of the families mentioned above, destroyed large farmlands, and many families become pennyless, and some of these men had to run away with their family members in order to escape these evil men. According to source these herds men are looking for these family and threatened to kill them anywhere they locate them in the country these made them leave the state or run away for their life.
